1.  REV NEILL MCMILLAN  (JOHN) was born Abt. 1786 in prob, Robeson Co, NC, and died 13 Sep 1837 in prob Tunnel Spr, Monroe Co, AL.  He married MARY CULBERTH  04 Dec 1817 in ,Montgomery Co, GA, daughter of MALCOLM MCMILLAN and MARGARET SMITH.  She was born 23 Mar 1796 in Richmond, NC, USA, and died 05 Jun 1860 in Tunnel Springs, Monroe Co, AL.

N. McMillan, licentate, accompanied his people to their home in Georgia (from

Robeson Co NC 1800-1815) and for four or five years, in addition to his duties

as school teacher, ministered to them on the Sabbath.

Rev Neill McMillan headstone inscribed "Sacred to the memory of the Reverend

Neel McMillan d Sep 13 1837 age 51 years".  Also buried here are his wife, Mary,

daughters, Catherine M (1st wife of William J "Billy" Davison and her son James

in common grave), Mary Jane (2nd wife of William J "Billy Davison), Caroline

age 10 years, and Barbara, age 19 years.  Murdock McMillan (son of Neil) and

their children are buried at Old Scotland Presb. Cem.

(DIARY OF CONF SOLDIER Dr W. W. MCMILLAN):

William Wallace McMillan

states that 2 brothers, Archibald and Gilbert (John) McMillan emigrated from

the Highlands of Scotland some where about the year 1760.  Archibald settled in

Richmond County NC.  Included in the numerous children and grandchildren and

their spouses are the names of Mary McMillan and her husband Neill McMillan.

This also states that Mary was the daughter of Malcolm McMillan and Margaret

Smith.  It also includes the names of the children of Mary and Neill McMillan,

s. Murdock m. Lou Jackson;  d. Catherine m. W. Davison, Jane m. W. Davison,

Barbary died unmarried, Sarah m. S. W. Andress, Caroline d. unmarried.

Stephen Singleton Andress donated land for Pineville Church and Cemetery in

Monroe Co AL. He died during the Civil War at age 64.  Five sons enlisted in

the war, and three of them were killed.

Murdock Archie McMillan (Sr) was in Co H, 17th Al Infantry Regiment and 2nd Cavalry, Capt M c Creary's Co.

Served in the unit of Dr W W McMillan which was formed in Tunnel Springs Al. In the Innfantr y His captain was W. W. McMillan.  Pension application was submitted by wife Mary Louisa Jack son indicated that he was born 8 Mar 1834 in Al and died 31 May 1903.  He served as a Private in 17th Regiment and was paroled at close of War.  Her birthdate was 8 May 1841 Camden an d birthplace was Wilcox Co AL. Pension Roll # 32046 located at Alabama Archives, Montgomery A L.

Funeral services for Murdock A McMillan, Sr, 77, Repton resident who formerly lived in Tunnel Springs, were held recently from Repton 1st Meth Ch, Rev R A Moore officiated.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Mr McMillan died at his home here following a heart attack. He had been in failing health a number of years.  Well known throughout Monroe County where he was a land surveyor for a number of years Mr McMillan lived at Tunnel Springs until 1923 when he moved to Repton.  He was a Mason.  Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. M A Fountain, and Mrs. D Hale of Repton;  Mrs. T E Landon Prichard,; a son Murdock A McMillan, Jr of Monroeville , a brother, J J McMillan, Natchez and 9 grandchildren.

James Charles McMillan, 70, died Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999. Mr. McMillan worked with Progressive Roofing for about 40 years. He was also a farmer, cattleman, plumber, electrician, carpenter and mechanic. Services were held Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 11:30 a.m. in Faith Chapel Funeral Home in Pensacola. The Rev. Carl Sanders officiated, and burial was in Scotland Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Tunnel Springs with Faith Chapel Funeral Home directing. He is survived by his wife, Mahala Powell McMillan; six children, Frankie Cross of Arizona; Lisa Hatch of Texas; Maria Orlandini of Missouri, Ted McMillan of Pensacola, Jeff Bates of Tallahassee, Fla., and Pat McMillan of Georgia; two sisters, Judy Stabler of Fairhope and Pauline Kennedy of Pine Apple; and five grandchildren.
