Old Scotland Homecoming Services Scheduled for April 27, 2008

Please join us! Make your plans now to attend!

Text Box: The annual service for 2007 will be held on Sunday, April 29th. Services will begin at 11:00. The service will be followed by a “dinner on the grounds”. Everyone who has an interest in Old Scotland is welcomed and encouraged to attend and participate. Just bring your favorite dish, and/or a jug of tea or cola and some ice, and after the service, we’ll gather together and share good company and good food. If you are coming from a long distance, please don’t worry about bringing a dish. There’s usually more than enough for everyone. If you have information about the history of the church or the community of Scotland, please bring copies so we can add that info to the website.

The Old Scotland Presbyterian Church and Cemetery is supported entirely by donations. Your donations help to cover not only the expenses of the service (pastor, bagpiper, organist, etc) but also help to maintain the building itself, the church grounds, and the cemetery. An offering will be taken at the annual service, but you may also make donations to the church throughout the year by contacting board member and treasurer Carolyn Watson McMillan.

It is wise to dress in cool and comfortable clothing. Old Scotland Church has no electricity. It remains largely unchanged from the days when our ancestors worshipped here. It is also wise to bring lawn chairs for seating after church. We try to bring as many extras as possible but it’s better to have too many than too few.

The annual service for 2006 was held on Sunday, July 30th.
Brannan Bowman led the service and Charles Hightower played the bagpipe for us. We enjoyed good food and fellowship following the service. Click here to see photos from 2006.
